1838: To mark Queen Victoria's coronation the day before, the British newspaper The Sun published its entire issue with gold ink.

1863 - George Armstrong Custer is appointed as a U.S. Union brevet brigadier general.

1905 - Moonlight Graham makes his only Major League Baseball appearance, in a game between the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Superbas but gets no at-bat.

1933 - Italian boxer Primo Carnera knocked out American Jack Sharkey to become the heavyweight champion of the world.

1956 - Marilyn Monroe marries American playwright Arthur Miller.

1983: Prince Mongo of the uncharted planet of Zambodia, accused of tampering with an electric meter in Memphis, was sentenced to 10 days for contempt when he appeared in court wearing green body paint, a fur loincloth, gold goggles, and carrying a skull under one arm. Later that year Prince Mongo ran for mayor of Memphis and got 2,650 votes

1986: In Louisville, Kentucky a man arrested for drunk driving claimed to be legally blind and that the car was actually being driven by his dog, Sir Anheuser Busch II. He served 30 days in jail.

1995 - The Sampoong Department Store collapses in the Seocho-gu district of Seoul, South Korea, killing 501 and injuring 937.

2000 - Vandals break into the tombs of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines.

Today is Elvis Presley Boulevard Day. The City of Memphis voted to name a 12-mile portion of the street that passes Graceland in honor of Elvis. Street signs disappeared immediately.

Manic Monday always seemed misnamed to me; I feel just about every feeling on Monday except manic.

Yeah, I always thought The Bangles were crazy, but I guess they were talking about being manic in getting it together on Monday mornings. Still not motivated enough to call it that on a Monday. But they were young in '86. We should ask them now.

Does the tortoise vs. the human count? That was kinda nuts!

12 stitches Monday Morning for falling on a tortoise. I do not like the ER, and they weren't even my stitches!

great work! the only one that i immediately remembered was the blind drunk who had the dog driving in 86'. it was my 1st year in the navy, 18 years old and on my way to greatness....must of been one of the few sober moments i had at that time. thanks...i really liked the history.

Well, dogs do have excellent vision. I think his name may have been a clue! Remembering anything from '86 is hard for me, drunk or sober! But I am glad you made your way to greatness friend.
